This impressive increase in the participation of winemakers demonstrates the desire to gain recognition in the Quebec and Canadian markets, as the country is the 7th largest wine importer in the world by volume, a volume that keeps on increasing.
— Réal Wolfe, President of Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada

The Jury

To carry out this edition, a jury of 60 people coming from the entire Canadian wine industry conducted the tastings in accordance with the rigorous sanitary protocol imposed by government authorities. They participated in 144 tasting sessions over four days to submit their scores.

The 2020 Winners

The Sélection Mondiales des Vins Canada competition is very pleased to present its list of winning wines for 2020. The patronage of the OIV implies, on the part of the Organizing Committee of Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada, compliance with the Standard for international wine competitions of the OIV, in particular, that the percentage of awards granted, whatever they may be, does not exceed 30% of the samples tasted. The percentage of medals awarded for the 2020 edition was 28.5%.

New in 2020: the Top 50 Best Scores

It was with great pleasure that the Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada contest unveiled, for the very first time, the Top 50 Best Scores list for its 2020 edition.

This list highlights the wines that received the highest scores in the 2020 contest, all categories and countries combined. It is intended as a commercial initiative and aims to facilitate their eventual entry into the Quebec, Canadian and American markets.

Important Partnership with the SAQ

Our partner, the SAQ, received the Top 50 Best Scores list from which it selected 25 products. These products will be offered free access to SAQ’s product catalog. The SAQ's product marketing team will also integrate these wines into its acquisition plan so that they can be tasted and, based on their evaluation, subsequently marketed.
